PLANTERIJ GROENSTRAAT 13

  • Bee plants
  • FERNS
  • PERENNIALS

In rural Nazareth, on Groenstraat, there is an old country cottage that has been given a new future as a small-scale perennial plant nursery.

The nursery stands on two ‘legs’: that of spore-bearing plants and of flowering plants.

They offer a wide choice of (garden) ferns and are constantly looking for new good varieties.

The flowering plants grown there at Planterij Groenstraat 13 are selected for their contribution to the ‘biodiversity’ in their gardens. High nectar and pollen value for (wild) bees, butterflies, hoverflies and other insects.

Calamintha, Agastache, Nepeta, Origanum, Aster, Vernonia, Helenium and Sanguisorba are getting our full attention. Of the latter, we have a very wide range.

A bee leaflet was published in 2017 and Rik has been supporting the ‘bees’ theme for years. How to combine bee plants with other perennials can be seen at their stand. It remains a recurring theme.

An extensive collection of ferns : Groenstraat 13 is the place to be!

Also as before:

Dryopteris wallichiana ‘Jurassic Gold’
Dryopteris dickinsii ‘Crispa’
Dryopteris formosana
Dryopteris erythrosora var. koidzumiana
Polystichum neolobatum
Polystichum biaristatum
Polystichum yunnanense
Athyrium niponicum ‘Apple Court’
Cyrtomium devexiscapulae
Pteris vittata
Arachniodes miqueliana

Grower's choice September 2026

Vernonia ‘Summer Swan Song’ ®

A particularly useful Vernonia due to its restricted height. This one actually grows wider than it is tall. Compact and spherical growth habit with an intense flowering colour. Lovely seed heads.

Be sure to go and admire it at Planterij Groenstraat 13; Rik Storme will gladly give you information regarding its placement and care.

Featured at Plantenrij Groenstraat 13: Dryopteris wallichiana

The Dryopteris wallichiana is a hardy and evergreen garden fern that can grow nicely to a height of 75-150 cm.

A dark midrib and deep green fronds add to its beauty. This fern occurs in both Central America and Asia

. You can also find it at Hex in June!
