CRA-W Gembloux

Collection, conservation, evaluation and valorisation of Belgian fruit tree Genetic Resources. The collection at Gembloux contains 1,390 accessions of Malus domestica, 885 of Pyrus communis, 330 of Prunus domestica, 60 of Prunus avium and 30 of Prunus persica. Most of them have been collected from old standard tree orchards and consist of landraces. The collection is subjected to continuous field evaluation without any chemical treatment with a view to screening them for disease resistance and agronomic characters.
