WARANDE

A family business, specialising in woodland and *stinze* plants, that has everything in-house for both historical and contemporary gardens and parks; from historical research, restoration and design, to landscaping and maintenance.

The company was set up by Willem Overmars and Trudy Woerdeman. Son Jan Willem Overmars and his wife Toto Lee are now in day-to-day charge.

Their show garden, ‘De Warande’, is situated in the woods of the Keppel estate in Laag Keppel, near Doetinchem. Since the 1990s, experiments have been carried out here with stinzen plants and woodland gardening: a still relatively unknown, historical and ecological form of gardening amongst old trees and shrubs. A form that, historically speaking, belongs in old country estates and is applied in a modern sense in today’s gardens and parks.

The Hex team is delighted to have them back amongst us. Do pop along and have a look at the stinze plants there!

Their son will happily draw with other children at a ‘wild forms of bulbous plants’ drawing workshop on their stand. You should definitely let your child take part in this; drawing will be something a bit different. So lovely! We thank them for this fun initiative.
