Garden situation
In older days, every estate and abbey had a vegetable cellar. The autumn vegetables ripened in the garden are replanted in the prepared beds in the cellar : cardoon (which need to become white before eating), celery, turnips, carrots, viper’s grass, red and white cabbages, endives and dandelions can be kept for months protected from frost and light.

Festival of rare plants, roses & kitchen gardens
Every year, on the second weekend of September the gardens are open to the public. Specialist nurseries, many holding national collections, put their best products for sale. At the same time the public can attend exhibitions, demonstrations and lectures by professionals from Belgium and abroad on the most interesting subjects.
