The collection of old roses at Hex is one of the most interesting in Belgium; from botanical roses, or wild roses as their name indicates, to more sophisticated roses which are the product of careful hybridisation. All the varieties are represented here, such as Centifolia and Bourbon roses, Hybrid Perpetuals, Damask roses, Gallicas and Albas, Floribundas, Moss roses, Polyanthas wichuraiana, as well as dwarf roses as ground cover.

Festival of rare plants, roses & kitchen gardens
Every year, on the second weekend of June the gardens are open to the public. Nurseries specialised in old and botanical roses, as well as collectors and breeders of rare plants put their best products for sale. At the same time the public can attend exhibitions, demonstrations and lectures by professionals from Belgium and abroad on the most interesting subjects.
